Kennington Oval currently referred as KIA OVAL was opened in the year 1845. the ground is also known by few other names like THE BRIT OVAL, FOSTER’S OVAL. The KIA OVAL is home to England cricket team and The Surrey Cricket Club. It has a seating capacity of 23500. The ground has two ends The Vauxhall end and the Pavillion end. the ground has witnessed may historic matches and is also a witness to many cricketing records. It is the same ground where the famous LEGEND OF ASHES was born in August 1882.There is initial assistance for pacers due to a greenish light tinge of grass on the surface. The batsman find it easier to play their shorts once the ball becomes soft. there is minimal to no assistance for spinners. The ground being Oval in shape the straighter boundaries are bigger. The Boundaries square of the wicket are shorter. The ground has a lightening quick outfield.
TRENT BRIDGE- NOTTINGHAM
Trent Bridge one of the grounds in the world where watching cricket is a treat to watch. It was opened in the year 1841. It has a seating capacity of 17500. The two ends of the stadium are Radcliffe end and pavillion end. It is the home to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club and England Cricket Team. The pavillion end boundary is 72 meters long. as the game progresses batting tends to get easier once the ball becomes old. Here the slower bowlers also get purchase from the wicket as the game progresses. The speedsters relish the swing on offer with the new ball. The Lush green outfield is super quick.
SOPHIA GARDENS- CARDIFF
Sophia Gardens previously known as SWALEC stadium is located in Cardiff, Wales. The ground is home to Glamorgan County Cricket Club. The ground has a seating capacity of 15000. The two ends of the ground are River Taff end and Cathedral Road end. The ground got its name from the wife of Marquis of Brute. The ground has bigger square boundaries.
COUNTY GROUND- BRISTOL
County ground Bristol also known as Brightside Ground is located in Bristol,England. Established in the year 1889. It is home to Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and the England cricket team. The ground has a seating capacity of 17500. The two ends of the ground are Bristol pavillion end and Ashley Down Road End. The ground has a longest boundary of 80 meters. There was not a single international One-Day match played in 2018. Four matches are due to be played during the world cup. The boundaries are bigger than most of the county grounds in England.
THE ROSE BOWL- SOUTHAMPTON
The Rose Bowl or Ageas Bowl as known recently due to sponsorship deal. It is located in Hampshire,England. It is home to Hampshire County Cricket Club. Established in the year 2001. The ground has a seating capacity of 15000 which can be increased to 25000 with temporary seating. During the 2018 season no international One-Day matches were played at this ground. The pitch at the ground tends to get difficult to bat in the second innings and also tends to get two-paced under the lights which helps the Pacers.
THE COOPER ASSOCIATES COUNTY GROUND- TAUNTON
THE COOPER ASSOCIATES COUNTY GROUND-TAUNTON.
The Cooper Associates County Ground also known as County Ground is located in Taunton,Somerset. The ground was established in the year 1882. The ground has previously hosted World Cup matches in the year 1983 and 1999. The ground is the home to Somerset County Cricket Club. It has a seating capacity of 12500. The two ends of the grounds are named as Somerset pavillion end and river end. No international fixtures has been played at this ground since 1999 world cup. This time the ground will again be hosting world cup matches.
OLD TRAFFORD- MANCHESTER
Old Trafford established in 1857 is located in west Manchester, England. It is the second oldest test venue. The ground has hosted the first ever Ashes test match in 1884.the two ends of the ground are named after James Anderson and Brian Statham. It has also hosted two cricket world cup semifinals. it is the same ground where England’s Jim Laker took 19 wickets which is a test and first class record. The BALL OF THE CENTURY bowled by SHANE WARNE to MIKE GATTING during the 1993 ASHES Series was witnessed at this very ground. The pitch at Old Trafford is one of the quickest in England but it also assists the spinners as the game progresses. The ground is home to Lancashire County Cricket Club.
The Edgbaston Cricket Ground also known as County Ground or Edgbaston Stadium is located in Birmingham, England. The ground was established in the year 1882. it has a seating capacity of 25000. the ends of the Ground are Pavillion End and Birmingham End.It is the home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club. In 2013 it became the first ground in England outside Lord’s to stage an International One-Day tournament Final when it hosted the ICC Champions Trophy Final. The visiting teams relish good success at this venue. During the 2018 season no international One -day matches were played.
Headingley cricket ground or just known as Headingley is located in Leeds, England. The ground is also known as Emerald Headingley Cricket Ground. It was Established in the year 1890 and has a seating capacity of 19000. the two ends of the ground are Football Stand End and Kirkstall Lane End. The Ground is home to Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The Pitch at Headingley gives an even contest between bat and ball.
LORD’S CRICKET GROUND- LONDON
The World’s most iconic stadium Lord’s often referred as the “MECCA OF CRICKET” OR ‘HOME OF CRICKET. It was established in the year 1814.To play at this 205 year old ground is dream for all the cricketers but only a few could make it. The beautiful Lord’s Balcony enhances the picturesque look of the ground. The spectacular media box end makes the ground look even more special. The ground has a slight slope on one side which makes the ball travel quickly to fence and also bowlers get lateral movement from the pitch.The ground was named after Thomas Lord. The seating capacity is 30000. The ground is Owned by MARLEYBORNE CRICKET CLUB(MCC) which is the governing body of cricket laws. The ground is home to Middlesex County Cricket Club. The Ends are Known as Pavillion End and Nursery End. The boundaries being bigger Scoring 4’s and 6’s is difficult. There are plenty of 1’s, 2’s and also 3’s on offer. LORD’S WILL BE HOSTING THE ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2019 FINAL.
RIVERSIDE GROUND- CHESTER-LE-STREET
Riverside Ground also known as Emirates Riverside is situated at Chester-Le-Street,Durham,England. It is home to Durham County Cricket Club. Established in the year 1995. it has a seating capacity of 19000. The two ends are named Lumley end and Finchale End. The pitch generally favour the pacers specially new ball bowlers. There is swing as well seam on offer for bowlers.
